Senior Director, Consumer Public Relations

The Consumer Public Relations team is responsible for driving positive press stories around Minted’s unique brand positioning, as well as large product launches and brand moments. We are a small, entrepreneurial, high-energy team with a passion for great storytelling.
As the leader of this team, the Senior Director of Consumer PR will work closely with the integrated marketing, social media, and brand awareness teams to help advance the company’s position across consumer media. We are looking for an effective and creative communicator who has the ability to create and tell interesting stories, as well as propose new ways of doing things.
You must be a PR and media relations pro, as well as a team player that can work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment across many groups. You should also be passionate about coaching and developing a team.
This role reports to the Vice President of Brand Marketing.

You will:

    • Develop a comprehensive consumer communications strategy to increase Minted’s brand awareness, reputation and engagement, as well as an understanding of our unique crowdsourcing model
    • Work with multiple stakeholders across the organization to support key company objectives and integrated marketing campaigns, while remaining consistent with brand equity and voice
    • Propose new, innovative ways to approach consumer media. Do not rely only on what was done in the past
    • Implement a structured program around influencers
    • Cultivate and manage relationships with top-tier consumer media
    • Set annual team objectives aligned with company goals
    • Define and report progress against relevant program metrics to senior management on a weekly basis, and pivot the team when needed to meet goals
    • Oversee the team’s budget. Reallocate budget as needed to achieve the team’s goals, as well as proactively raise issues
    • Coach and develop a 5-7 person team comprised of full-time employees, as well as seasonal and event contractors. Elevate each member’s core skills and strategic thinking, as well as help define their career paths

You are:

    • An entrepreneurial and a proactive thinker who is able to hit the ground running and manage up to leadership team expectations
    • A strong verbal communicator, with the ability to diplomatically advance a position
    • Comfortable and confident in interacting with and influencing senior management decisions
    • Able to think on your feet, pivot quickly, and make fast decisions based on changing needs (fast twitch muscles)
    • A strong team player who easily collaborates with cross-functionals to build new ideas

You have:

    • 15+ years experience in public relations; a mix of agency and in-house experience  preferred
    • Strong media relationships. Experience in at least one of Minted’s industries (e.g., design, wedding, stationery, art, home decor) preferred
    • Experience in national consumer print, broadcast, and influencers required
    • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft flawless content on rapid deadlines
    • Strong track record of designing & implementing unique earned and paid media campaigns with proven results
    • Strong track record and portfolio of leading creative consumer-facing brand or press campaigns with proven results
