About the Role


As part of the the mechanical analysis team, the senior mechanical engineering analyst role is to enhance, improve and iterate mechanically UBER ATG self-driving technology into existing and future commercial vehicle platforms.


What You’ll Do


  • Requirements analysis
  • Boundary condition and load case specification
  • CAD modeling of components and assemblies for analysis
  • Modal, stress, fatigue, crash, thermal expansion and vibration analysis
  • Closed form validation of FEA results
  • Preparation and presentation of detailed analysis reports
  • Failure analysis and mitigation recommendation
  • Design iteration based on FEA results
  • Finite element analysis expert in stress/strain, heat transfer, fluid flow
  • Direct automotive experience (relevant industry, related projects, etc.) is a plus
  • Expert in ANSYS, ABAQUS, Solidworks Simulation, LS-DYNA, or similar FEA software
  • Experience with finite element analysis of composites, fatigue, vibration
  • Experience mathematically modeling dynamic systems, nonlinear impact loads
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD software
  • Experience with MapleSim, MATLAB, Mathematica, Simulink, or similar modeling software
  • Knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Python, C++) is a plus, not required though
  • Understanding of electromechanical design and fabrication


What You’ll Need


  • Master's degree in engineering, physics, or similar; PhD is a plus
  • 5 years of industrial experience and/or academic projects utilizing FEA tools
  • Rigorous attention to detail and quality
  • Quick learner, interested in expanding into new fields
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work with others in cross functional teams

Bonus Points If

  • Knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Python, C++)
  • Direct automotive experience (relevant industry, related projects, etc.)
  • Understanding of electromechanical design and fabrication
  • Master's degree/PhD in engineering, physics, or similar
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
