At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.

About the role:

Uber Data Science is looking for world class Senior Product Analyst to be the first to join the Office of the CTO. The Office of the CTO is lead by Principal Engineer Waleed Kadous and its mission is to ensure that Uber Engineering’s teams, capabilities systems and solutions execute cohesively now and scale for the next 5 years.

What you’ll be doing:

The role is highly cross-functional and cross-organizational in nature and the individual will be working closely with executives and senior individual contributors across the company. Some example projects include,

  • Driving the investment roadmap via quantitative analytics: Sizing opportunities and estimating potential impact to drive the roadmap and investments of the office of the CTO and across Uber Engineering. These analyses often require deep understanding of our business and complex interaction effects e.g. in our Marketplace.

  • Measuring and tracking success of our Engineering Excellence Projects:

A key responsibility of the Office of the CTO is raising the engineering bar. This is done through cross-engineering projects e.g. major architectural shifts, identifying key future needs and addressing them, and cultural activities like fixit weeks. An important component is to track initiative’s success in a quantitative fashion and provide reports and data-driven recommendations to executives.

Here are the kinds of skills we're looking for:

  • A graduate degree or equivalent in applied statistics, computer science or a quantitative domain
  • 4+ years working experience delivering, scaling, and owning highly successful and innovative analytics products,
  • great communication skills,
  • strong business and product acumen,
  • the ability to create structure from ambiguity,
  • experience with data science technologies like Hadoop, Hive, and SQL (Postgres, HiveQL, Vertica SQL)
  • demonstrable proficiency in scripting (Python or R preferred).
  • an ability to connect the deep domain expertise of the researcher with the pragmatism and scrappiness of the entrepreneur - you’re a true generalist.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) plan, gym reimbursement, nine paid company holidays.
  • Full medical/dental/vision package to fit your needs.
  • Unlimited vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need it.
