Description

We are hiring a Field Specialist to expand our Scientific Sourcing team in San Francisco and Boston. We are looking for scientifically trained professionals with strong experimental and technical sales backgrounds who are interested in joining our fast-paced, highly collaborative and cross-functional team. We source cutting edge technologies for the world’s leading R&D companies in cosmetics, agriculture, biopharma and niche biotech. You will be the primary liaison and trusted advisor for both industry and academic scientists and you need to seamlessly combine challenging scientific principles and business savvy.

Responsibilities

    • Create great impressions on our clients with your broad scientific knowledge and understanding of various protocols to become the trusted and resourceful advisor to researchers
    • Manage and own large, enterprise customer relationships including effectively setting and managing client expectations
    • Well-versed in escalation management, including working directly with senior-level customer contacts to build relationships and resolve issues as they arise
    • Be a Science Exchange product expert so that you can help current and potential clients advance their research objectives
    • Give feedback about client requirements in order to improve the user experience of our product
    • Contribute to our concierge sourcing service by working closely with researchers to discover and evaluate CROs and academic core labs who best meet their project needs
    • Collaborate with other functions within Science Exchange to develop and execute account-specific strategies  
    • Contribute to community outreach, marketing, and strategic partnership initiatives

Requirements

    • Master’s or PhD in engineering, the physical sciences, or life sciences
    • 2-4 years of direct customer facing technical sales, account management or related experience in client relations.
    • Research experience, preferably in the life science/biopharma industry (other industries welcome!)
    • Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international)
    • Must be comfortable discussing scientific topics and demonstrate a high-level understanding of scientific concepts, with the ability to come up to speed quickly on areas outside of your expertise
    • Outstanding organization, planning, communication, and critical thinking skills
    • Tenacity, patience, and ability to collaborate as well as working independently
