We’re looking for someone on top of the latest trends and willing to take them further to influence culture. You are excited about establishing an approachable brand voice for students and instructors, all while using data and testing to improve copy across all touchpoints.
 
What you’ll do
As the ACD / Copy, you’ll be responsible for contributing strategically and tactically to the long-term vision of the brand voice, bringing our brand to life with words that resonate with our students/instructors, delight them, and inspire action. You’ll manage a small team of creative copywriters and collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Brand to operationalize voice and guide the narrative in all consumer-facing channels. You’ll also support other business initiatives as needed.

Your day-to-day may include:

    • Lead creative messaging strategy and copy development, thoughtfully deploying the brand tone in all your work and helping maintain consistent standards for copy
    • Managing the work of other copywriters in achieving creative objectives; providing mentorship while developing skill and career
    • Working with the Student and Instructor Marketing teams to understand our offerings and develop original, best-practice copy to support product launches, and drive action in marketing campaigns, lifecycle programs, paid advertising, and content marketing
    • Collaborating with other writers to build voice guides and master copy docs that align teams across the organization, continually using testing and data practices to inform and evolve our messaging
    • Synthesizing and delivering on creative briefs, taking complex information and concepts, and distilling them into compelling, strategically sound experiences across media types (video, digital marketing programs, emails, paid social media, landing pages, etc.)
    • Developing and maintaining harmonious partnerships with our Sr. Design Manager and other team members for concepting and executing creative projects
    • Oversee all copy-related activities and processes, providing proofreading and editorial guidance to content partners and freelancers to ensure consistency with our brand voice, tone, and style
    • Strategizing how to share our powerful instructor stories with the world
    • Working with our Product Marketing team to plan and develop new communications
    • Participating in and leading idea-generating sessions
    • Rallying around and articulating ideas effectively to key stakeholders at all levels

What you’ll need:

    • 10+ years experience copywriting and concepting across a range of marketing channels (email, onsite, ad campaigns, social, video, content) for B2C brands and e-commerce companies
    • Previous experience with team management, mentoring other writers, and working closely with Art Directors and designer partners
    • Expert understanding of best practices and creative considerations across the web, mobile, digital advertising, video, social, SEO principles, etc.
    • A finger on the pulse of what’s happening with the web, social media, and industry
    • A keen eye for detail, whether you are developing and maintaining a clear and consistent brand voice, being strategic, or lending your “way with words” for ancillary needs
    • Excellent speaking, writing, and presentation skills — you’re a confident and outstanding communicator, people person, and collaborative team player
    • Masterful editing and proofreading skills
    • An ability to take constructive feedback and use it to improve your work
    • Versatility — the ability to focus intensely on a single task, but shift gears to multiple projects and work efficiently under pressure
    • A high-output workflow that is deadline-driven, with meticulous handoffs and strong attention to detail
    • An ability to craft everything, from impactful headlines and body copy that drives response in digital campaigns, to short and long-form editorial copy that enhances engagement
