About the Role


As the Global Tax and Reporting team, we ensure Uber’s compliance with tax legislation, identify and research tax issues and clearly articulate our findings to management through verbal/written communication and presentations. At Uber, tax and reporting roles are business critical and can have a real impact on our potential growth in each market. We work in a smart innovative way to drive improvements to processes, controls and reporting across regions and operations while upholding strong working partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
  • Build out a global communications function for Tax and Reporting by designing and managing an internal communications strategy aligned with the department’s business and policy goals
  • Develop the right internal channels to ensure that people get the information they need, when they need it in ways that are fun and inspiring
  • Support all team growth and development initiatives which includes, but not limited to, creating and maintaining reference materials, managing (in all aspects) training programs, and designing monthly newsletters that are meaningful and representative of work performed
  • Collate employee feedback, metrics and data to drive improvement and communication initiatives
  • Review content and design of communication materials presented within the department and 3rd party stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency

What You'll Need


  • A self starter:  Uber is a company of entrepreneurs and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up too.  Stuff changes fast in our world so you’ll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure;
  • A great advocate:  We’re looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, but intellectually credible arguments.  You’ll need to write well and have the creative ability to tell stories—about our product, people and the ways we’re helping to improve life for passengers, drivers and cities.
  • A visual communicator: You'll need to be skilled at leveraging technology and other media tools to create clear narratives and compelling stories from various data sources. This includes interpreting data in spreadsheet format to create charts in presentations and similar communications, so mastery in PowerPoint or similar software and in flowcharting tools is essential.
  • A team player:  The ability to organize different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals.  It’s why we’re looking for people who enjoy working with others to get stuff done—and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally.  
  • A minimum of  5+ years in communications—either for a company or a third party, but we’re open to people who’ve been successful in other walks of life (e.g.  tax, media, third party advocacy or marketing) who intuitively get this stuff and may be looking for a career change.
