Udemy is looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Intern who will be a part of our growing data team and help build our data governance and data quality practice. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, has some technical writing or blogging experience and detail-oriented with a real passion for solving difficult metadata management problems.
This role is a great opportunity for a current MIS student, although that is not a requirement. This position is a part-time, temporary position based in the Udemy office in San Francisco, CA. We are expecting a commitment of 20-30 hours a week, at least through spring and potentially summer of 2019.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

    • Lead metadata curation efforts and partner with marketing, product, finance and business development teams to understand the business context and growth drivers behind one of the largest and fastest growing education marketplaces in the world
    • Design and implement elegant and efficient ways to backfill and curate the metadata for 1000+ back-end database tables used in Udemy's analytics infrastructure using a combination of creative programming scripts and workflow tools to automate coordination between different teams
    • Identify and document dependencies between dashboards, tables, data pipelines, owners, business and technical context
    • Learn more about Udemy’s culture and participate in team-building events. At the end of this internship, you will summarize your findings and propose solutions to the our data team on how to revamp our metadata infrastructure using groundbreaking metadata tools and process improvements.
