Description

World View is a high-energy early stage company based in Tucson, Arizona, working to capitalize on the commercial potential of a new class of maneuverable high-altitude balloons called Stratollites.  We are currently seeking an experienced Avionics Technician who will be responsible for assembly and repair of complex electronic systems that help power and navigate our balloon system and aerospace vehicle.

Summary of essential job functions

•    Responsible for inspecting and testing the complex electrical and computer systems that allow craft to function.
•    Assembles and installs electrical components and keeps detailed written records.
•    Maintains existing avionic systems through improvements, modifications, and bug fixes.
•    Supports engineers with Instrument development, trouble shooting, and project support.
•    May provide technical support for payload integration or launch operations.
•    Performs inspection on work completed by other technicians using documented procedure, specifications, drawings, or written engineering instruction. 
•    Follows standard processes including requests for engineering evaluation/change and standard manufacturing data systems.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 
Requirements
  • 3-5 years as an Avionics Technician, or related, experience; technician experience on aerospace vehicles is a plus.
  • A 2-year degree in electronics, or related field is required, or similar training obtained in the military.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform electronics assembly skills without help from others, such as but not limited to soldering, crimping, coating, and circuit testing,
  • IPC knowledge a plus.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to communicate well with stakeholders both verbally and written.

Ability Requirements

  • Generally, works at a bench in the avionics lab, but often requires work in the bay.
  • Occasionally may be requested to travel with a launch team or mission control for technical support.
  • Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time,
  • May require lifting to 40lbs.
