Works with end users to ensure tight fit between BI environment and business requirements. Designs and manages the BI tools and applications environment. Configures BI tools, develops the semantic layer and metadata, and creates reports and report definitions. Creates and delivers end-user training and documentation and provides second-line support to power users who develop reports on behalf of their departmental colleagues
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience.
- This position requires significant knowledge in complex query writing using SQL, Oracle SQL, or Postgress SQL as well as the use of BI Platform tools such as SAP Business Objects, Tableu, or Jaspersoft.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, or Characteristics
o 5 years of report development and data analysis.
o Strong knowledge of BI tool architectures, functions, and features
o Customer-focused in both independent and team roles in a high technology business/area.
o Demonstrated ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objects
o Expert SQL skills required
o Demonstrated ability to customize BI tools to meet user needs
Helpful / Preferred
o Strong database experience strongly preferred
o Expertise with at least one of the following database technologies and familiarity with the others: relational, columnar and NoSQL (i.e. MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, Vertica, mongodb)
Functions and Responsibilities (…in addition to other duties as assigned)
o Troubleshoots BI tool problems and tunes for performance
o Develops multidimensional semantic layer and BI query objects for end users
o Works with our team to aggregate large data sets for use within Appriss solutions
o Creates reports and report templates
o Helps business users select the appropriate BI tool(s)
o Develops and manages BI training and documentation
