About the Role

 

As Chief of Staff to the VP of New Mobility, you will take on an unusually wide range of responsibilities to support the organization’s leaders. You’ll help manage the organization through three primary functions: executive support, senior leadership team support, and by managing special projects and initiatives. This means you will be responsible for supporting and improving the VP’s effectiveness through planning, prioritization, and coordination of executive action items. You will also serve as a critical partner for senior leaders - defining and managing the cadence of business as well as coordinating and connecting teams and workstreams to ensure the business is moving quickly and in the right direction. You will serve as a program manager for special projects, working with a vast array of stakeholders on both the strategic vision and project execution.

 

This role requires a highly resourceful, sharp, organized, discrete, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence, analytical reasoning, and quick problem solving.

What You’ll Do

 

Executive Support

  • Facilitate all aspects of time management, prioritization, and preparation of executive action items and agenda, including post-meeting follow-ups
  • Organize and prepare materials, speaker notes, and Q&A responses for speaking engagements, including key meetings, all hands, Uber’s global staff call, and external conferences
  • Attend meetings on behalf of executive and act as representative when required
  • Be a connector across other Uber organizations

 

Senior Leadership Team Support

  • Manage the operational cadence of the business including: facilitating leadership meetings, offsites, all hands, and strategy sessions
  • Drive leadership towards clear, efficient, and accountable decision making
  • Distill and cascade core tenets of strategy for stakeholders at all levels, constantly aligning team members and initiatives to business goals
  • Communicate findings from initiatives to management and the broader organization
  • Develop and implement onboarding for new senior leaders
  • Partner closely with cross functional teams including: operations, product, engineering, hardware, supply chain, marketing, finance, policy, legal, HR, recruiting, communications, and S&P

 

Special Projects and Initiatives

  • Drive strategic initiatives and/or discrete projects on behalf of the VP and leadership team
  • Prioritize and drive multiple projects and be a utility player across teams

 

What You’ll Need

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years experience in operations consulting / strategy / stakeholder and project management or related experience; some high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred
  • Organized, detail-oriented, strategic, and process driven
  • Top caliber interpersonal skills: ability to communicate, present, influence, and explain across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and management levels
  • Ability to define metrics for success and track KPIs towards those metrics
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial: you’re a self-starter who loves to own things from start to completion. You make things happen and don’t need to ask for permission first.
  • Complete integrity, presence, and confidence. Ability to influence at all levels in the organization. Flexibility in a dynamic, ever changing environment. Competence in making timely, effective, principles-based decisions.

 

Preferred additional qualifications:

  • MBA and/or graduate degree
  • Effective program management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex strategic and operational initiatives
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners
  • History of working across multiple business lines and functions - including operations, product, engineering, hardware, supply chain, marketing, finance, policy, legal, HR, recruiting, communications, and S&P
  • Previous experience as a Chief of Staff or COO within technology/high-growth company
