ABOUT THE ROLE:
Udemy is seeking an exceptional Sr. Director of Brand and Creative Services to join our team to own the development of Udemy’s brand identity and to lead the transformation of the creative development process. We are looking for a visionary Brand & Creative leader that brings design, brand expertise and innovation to our creative operations. This is a big opportunity to a leader who is excited to build a high-impact creative ops function to fuel the explosive growth of Udemy's global brand.  
 
ABOUT YOU:
You can think strategically and conceptually about brand experience but are passionate about developing process and system that focus on creating assets at scale that fuel a digital first, e-commerce marketing strategy focused on the concept of personalization at scale. You will bring strategic vision, marketing savvy, outstanding written and graphical concepting skills, strong communication, team leadership, and a passion for rolling up your sleeves and getting things done. You will have positive energy, confidence in presenting to audiences of all sizes, and the ability to work across organizational lines and influence fellow leaders. The Sr. Director of Brand and Creative Services is responsible for managing and directing the Brand & Creative ops team and their output for the success of Udemy’s Digital and Brand marketing campaigns.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

    • Owning and executing Udemy’s Brand strategy working with Marketing, Design and Business stakeholders to bring our Brand Positioning “Be able” to life across all customers touch points.
    • Articulating the product and system needs to increase productivity and efficiency of the creative process while delivering highly disruptive and engaging creative experiences for our customers around the world.
    • Building a creative services function that delivers highly engaging Brand and Creative experiences at scale. The function must satisfy the needs of all marketing efforts across acquisition and retention for both students and instructor campaigns.
    • Thinking strategically and analytically, and making sound decisions quickly and efficiently; delivering multiple work streams on time and on budget.
    • Steering and fostering creativity on the team rather than micro-manage, focus on helping each team member expand their design capabilities and ultimately set them up to achieve their career goals.

We’re excited about you because you have:

    • Minimum of 12+ years of diverse Brand Marketing, Marketing Design and/or Creative Design experience, including in creative direction, branding, digital marketing leadership, and art direction with heavy emphasis on creative/concept/copy development in an agency or corporate environment. 50+% on ecommerce, e-learning or software company experience a plus.
    • 7+ years leading a team of Brand and creative professionals. Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching internal creative teams elevate their creative impact. 
    • Experience evaluating, selecting, and managing vendors and external agencies. 
    • Proven track record of building creative ops functions that focus on the creation of highly impactful digital creative at scale, ideally for a global audience.
    • Track record of facilitating strategic and innovative thinking and translating into rigorous action plans.
    • Ability to facilitate, synthesize, and champion conversations about Udemy's brand story internally and with agencies, from big picture to the nuanced details that matter. 
    • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing technologies and strategies including Social, SEM, Affiliates, Word of Mouth, email, promotions and content management. 
    • Deep knowledge of creative production for all media, including web, video, and other multi-media. 
    • Experience in recognizing excellent craft in every aspect of design to gain the respect of the team, enabling their ability to provide effective feedback and direction. 
    • Ability to identify, attract, and hire talented team players. As part of building a strong team, the Sr Director of Brand and Creative Services will establish and maintain processes that foster a healthy, cohesive, and collaborative team. 
    • Track record of thriving within a data driven marketing / brand organization. Has experience testing and evaluating creative campaigns and adjusting for maximum impact. If goals aren't met, they'll easily pivot the team and creative to re-engage the challenge.
