Our team is growing quickly and we’re looking for our first full-time in-house counsel. This will be a wide-ranging role, with a heavy focus on contracts and influencing our legal strategy across all areas of our business. 

In a given week, you might:
  • Craft a new contract structure to represent a novel deal type, navigating complex intellectual property and privacy considerations with a heavily-regulated financial services partner.
  • Provide legal guidance to our engineering team to ensure our data systems are architected in a compliant way.
  • Negotiate a tricky indemnification out of a sales contract, while making a prospect’s chief compliance officer comfortable with our representations.
In this role you’ll:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex sales contracts.
  • Manage Second Measure’s internal compliance processes.
  • Partner with our business development team on complex data acquisition and technology integration deals. 
  • Provide legal guidance to engineering to support systems design. 
  • Define Second Measure’s strategy for responding to evolving regulatory requirements, including privacy and securities regulation.
  • Act as Second Measure’s legal lead on topics including employment law, real estate/leases, and fundraising.
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel.
About you:
  • 5-10+ years experience working with fast-growing technology companies, including experience with growth-stage startups.
  • JD.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal topics clearly to non-lawyers.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the capacity to understand software and data systems.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness. Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing startup environment.
