The Opportunity
Grove Collaborative is looking for a HR Generalist with 4-6 years of progressive HR experience to join our fast growing People Operations Team! You'll work autonomously to support the day-to-day operations of our new office located in Portland, ME. You’ll partner closely with the Head of Portland, Office Manager and the People Operations Team based out of Headquarters in San Francisco, CA.

    • Self motivated and able to manage issues to close, with the ability to work autonomously regularly
    • Hands-on who can act both tactically and strategically to maximize employee experience
    • Not intimidated by new or complex challenges
    • Flexible and adaptable, able to deal with the fast moving changes of a growing startup
    • Approachable, genuine and able to have fun!


    • As an extension of the HQ People Team, you’ll administer various HR activities & programs: recruiting, on-boarding, benefits, compensation, development, and more.
    • Be the primary on-site HR person responsible for supporting a growing office of 50+ customer happiness team members
    • Partner with Portland management on employee relations cases, employee development, etc
    • Work closely with Portland Office manager to plan office events, team off sites, and other culture building opportunities
    • Track and maintain leave of absence, workers compensation, OSHA reporting, etc
    • Partner with local counsel on compliance requirements such as harassment training and local posting notices, as well as escalations as required

Key Requirements

    • HR Professional with 6+ years experience in similar role
    • Familiar with Local, State & Federal labor laws in Maine
    • Experience running point on full cycle HR responsibilities
    • Familiarity with BambooHR, Lever and ADP a plus
    • Experience supporting a client groups
    • PHR or similar certification a plus
    • Prior HR experience in a customer service organization a significant plus
