Senior Director, Analytics at Grove Collaborative

This role reports to the CTO, will own the BI and analytics strategy at Grove, and deliver insights that influence company strategy and operations.

You will build a team of analysts and data scientists that will

    • Support decision making and create insights for key functional groups (customer support, product management, operations, and merchandising).
    • Increase our customer analytics sophistication to better engage and serve our amazing customers and deliver on our mission.
    • Help headcount-intensive parts of the business (support, logistics) deliver operational excellence and efficiencies through reporting, analysis, and data.
    • Ensure data is widely used, actionable, valuable, and driving the strategy of the company.

About you

    • 8+ years of experience with analytics, and 5+ years of experience leading business intelligence and/or data science teams.
    • You love finding actionable insights. You keep the business in mind; your analytics results drive business results.
    • Regardless of whether you have an advanced degree in statistics, you love speaking with folks who do.
    • Strong with SQL, familiar with Python or R, great in Excel, and experience in enough BI tools (ideally Looker, but not required) that you are totally un-intimidated when encountering a new one.
    • You have hard-won opinions about how to best approach A/B testing, LTV prediction/modelling, and other common analytics challenges.
    • Experience recruiting, hiring, and managing awesome analysts and data scientists.
    • Comfortable bringing insights and opinions to the table with cross-functional stakeholders and executives to inform strategy and drive decisions.

You & the team will

    • Drive experiment results to ground, partnered with growth, product, and operations, and ensure we're maximizing our learning and insight.
    • Deliver key new models like LTV prediction, product retake modelling, and demand forecasting. Productionalize the models and ensure they are adopted across the organization.
    • Make sure business users have the insights they need, and drive usability and adoptions of the BI platform across the company; you are constantly working to drive up the percentage of decisions being made with good data.
    • Prioritize opportunities for your team, and help them dig deep into key business areas to identify opportunities and action plans.
    • Partner closely with data engineering and marketing analytics to set vision and direction around the data platform.
    • Work with business partners to to define requirements for new data marts, data products, and deliver results quickly.
    • Fight the forces of entropy to keep business intelligence manageable and scalable.
