About the role

We're looking for an experienced data analyst to join our Marketing Data Science & Analytics team and help optimize investment decisions for Uber’s multi-million dollar marketing budget. You will be responsible for developing actionable data-driven insights across Uber’s global marketing efforts, accelerating both demand and supply growth, engagement and retention within Uber’s 600+ cities worldwide! The high-value projects you’ll work on sit at the intersection of marketing, data analytics, and our business operations. The right person has a passion for driving impact by leveraging data insights, experimentation and technology to power decisions across our organization.

What you'll do

  • Help shape the future of Uber by influencing $MM’s marketing spend every year.
  • Design and analyze large-scale experiments to optimize global user growth, engagement and value, across both our core and emerging products (e.g., rideshare, EATs, JUMP, Uber Visa).
  • Leverage big data techniques and deploy analytical solutions to identify areas of opportunity, understand customer behavior, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing levers (e.g., cross-channel ads, promotions, targeting, creatives, campaigns, etc.)
  • Define key business metrics and KPIs, track against future goals and historical performance.
  • Translate data-driven learnings into actionable insights, and communicate them to key stakeholders to power business decision-making.
  • Collaborate with marketing and finance leadership, product, engineering, design, marketplace and ops teams. Guide these teams through data-driven recommendations.
  • Participate in cross-functional project planning and business prioritization.
  • Contribute to Uber’s global expansion!

What you’ll need

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Economics, Statistics, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of analytics and database experience. Previous experience in marketing analytics or adtech is a plus.
  • Excellent programming skills in SQL and either Python or R. Must be comfortable working with very large data sets.
  • Proficiency with multiple analytical and database tools (e.g., Hive, Spark, Presto, Vertica, Tableau).
  • Previous experimentation and relevant statistics knowledge (e.g. causal inference, hypothesis testing, regression, etc.).
  • Strong data visualization skills. Experience creating dashboard reporting in Tableau or a similar visualization tool is a plus.
  • Ability to explain statistical models to key stakeholders is a must.
  • Great communication and organization skills, ability to multitask and contribute as a team player.
  • Able to balance attention to detail with swift execution.
  • Hunger and drive to learn complex topics.
  • A love of data - ability to just go get the data you need and turn it into an insightful story. Knowing how to convert data into decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis.
