The Health Catalyst Care Management team develops innovative products to support healthcare organizations achieve their goal of improving quality care at an affordable price for those that need it most.  To accomplish this, the team builds a suite of products that supports all core competencies needed in the Care Management space which includes data integration, patient stratification and intake, care coordination, patient engagement and performance measurement.

In this position you will work closely with clients to oversee and implement the tools and applications developed by the Care Management (CM) product team.  This includes various DOS Marts, which is the foundational layer for our products, and the applications developed by our broader team.  The Implementation Specialist will be a key resource interfacing with client teams as well as informing the product backlog and providing feedback to the development teams.  This person will need to be detail oriented helping ensure the accuracy of data being pulled in to the foundational layers and in the tools.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Successful deployments of the Care Management product suite (DOS Marts & applications)
  • Participate in design and development meetings providing feedback in to product backlogs
  • Work with Product Managers to prioritize functionality and bug fixes to include in the Care Management product
  • Interact with the client’s Care Management, technical and clinical teams on a regular basis throughout the engagement 
  • Manage client facing projects by providing technical oversight; ensure assigned projects are executed efficiently and according to project requirements and timelines
  • Lead data validation tests to ensure data quality local to each client while maintaining product standard
  • Responsible for the Care Management Suite product deployment, client relationship, and client satisfaction during the Care Management Suite deployment
  • Interacts with client’s Care Management executive team and C-level health system executives on a regular basis as necessary throughout the entire engagement 
  • Continually looks for opportunities to educate and share the Health Catalyst vision to health system executives and clinician thought leaders
  • Spend a significant amount of time helping the client progress through a series of implementation activities which include but are not limited to the following:
    • Care management workflow mapping
    • Organizational and staff change management
    • Key software configuration decisions
    • Identifying key data sources
    • Identifying key patient populations
    • Deployment of interfaces to support patient alerting
    • Training on products
    • Transition to maintenance and client support
  • Provides end-user mentoring and acts as the point person for managing software issues and troubleshooting during the implementation of the care management suite products


Required Skills

  • Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) skills
  • Knowledge of HL7 message formats and how to map to standard data structures
  • Experience designing, implementing and loading data models tailored to local client environments
  • Strong experience delivering analytics to technical, non-technical and leadership teams that influence and support business strategy
  • A strong desire to build and maintain an architecture at our clients that directly contributes to meaningful analytics and outcomes improvements
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, relationship building, organization, and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented, efficient, organized, resourceful, and highly productive

Desired Skills

  • Healthcare domain knowledge
  • Deep understanding of the clinical and operational data structures with common EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.)
  • SQL Server experience
  • SQL query optimization skills
  • Strong working knowledge of database principles, processes, technologies and tools
  • Working knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms and techniques
  • Experience with project management tools and processes
  • Strong experience with development methodologies including AGILE development
  • 1+ year project management experience preferred
  • 1+ year experience effectively communicating to executive level highly preferred


Education & Relevant Experience

  • BS/BA in technology, business, or healthcare related degree
  • Five+ years’ experience in healthcare/technology related field
  • Training in the Toyota Production System, LEAN, Six Sigma, Project Management or other Process Improvement Skills is desirable
