Description

Looking for a job to get you out of bed?

Casper is seeking a Senior UX Researcher to join our growing New York digital design team. At Casper, UX researchers work across the product development process. You will help identify improvements, analyze the impact of our efforts and help drive product strategy. Our ideal candidate will translate business requirements, behavioral research, analytical data and consumer trends into concise recommendations that inspire the future of Casper’s digital offerings. We are looking for someone who can move quickly from curiosity to insight, and turn insight into direction by deploying a mix of quantitative and qualitative research  applications for in-home and retail.

Casper is one of the fastest-growing consumer brands of all time, was named one of Fast Company's 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2017, and its eponymous mattress was crowned one of TIME Magazine's Best Inventions.

We are deeply committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce so that we represent  all those who dream big equally.

Casper (casper.com) is a global sleep company that launched in 2014 with an obsessively engineered, outrageously comfortable mattress sold directly to consumers. Its critically acclaimed sleep surface was developed in-house, has a sleek design, and is delivered in a small, "how did they do that?"-sized box. The company is one of the fastest-growing consumer brands of all time, and its product line has expanded to include sheets, pillows, a matching foundation, and a dog mattress. Casper was named one of Fast Company's 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2017, and its eponymous mattress was crowned one of TIME Magazine's Best Inventions.

We are deeply committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce so that we represent all those who dream big equally.

When you’re not catching zzz’s, this is what you’ll do

  • Lead testing that deepens our understanding of the user experience and possible optimizations - informing and unblocking design and development roadmap.
  • Lead on-site, remote, and in-field user research studies with users that provides insight that drives product and business strategy.
  • Scale your impact through employing qualitative research tools and establishing process and templates that empower the digital product team to do tactical research - freeing you to do more strategic research.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for research projects and manage a backlog of projects - working with design leadership, designers and product managers to prioritize.
  • Leverage secondary data, trends and lessons to set the cultural context for the team.
  • Share tangible findings and prioritized recommendations with the teams on a regular basis, making connections between cross-functional team needs
  • Manage third-party research vendors and recruit for studies as necessary.

Our dream candidate is...

  • Have 5-7 years’ experience conducting user experience research within technology, DTC or retail sectors.
  • Ideally, has MA/MS+ in a related field, like psychology, human factors, design research, information sciences or sociology.
  • Have a deep knowledge of user research methods and are creative in developing approaches that cater to a diverse range of opportunities.
  • Are interested in design and product development and driven by seeing your research put into action - we don’t do research in a bubble.
  • Can work independently across planning, delivery, analysis and communication.
  • Have worked at a fast growing company and conducted research in a context of uncertainty, ambiguity and complexity.
  • You know the ins and outs of different unmoderated testing tools (e.g., UserTesting, UserZoom) and eye-tracking.
  • You’ve helped onboard product teams to conduct their own research and/or have conducted unmoderated research at scale.
  • Are an excellent communicator - able to hold your own in a meeting and presentation as well write a concise, clear summary of findings.
  • Are self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Can appreciate and balance customer, business and brand goals.

The syrup on your waffles

  • Salary to pay your bills, a potential bonus for some splurging, and equity so that you’re part of the Casper family.
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance to help you with those coughs or cavities (too many waffles...).
  • 401K program so you can still spend money later in life.
  • Extra cash incentives for being healthy and fit (we actually give you money to track your sleep!).
  • Unlimited vacation policy.  If you need time off just take it; we trust you!
  • Bi-weekly catered lunches to catch up with your teammates.
  • Free snacks and coffee, including a huge breakfast selection (10 types of cereal anyone?)
  • Nap pods, for those days when you stayed out a little too late...
  • A full gifted bed set when you join (mattress, sheets, pillows, the works)!

If you dream about this stuff this job is probably right for you.  We look forward to learning more about you, but if you’re feeling sleepy, take a nap before applying!
