Senior Manager, Strategy and Integrated Marketing at Udemy

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing Strategy, Pricing and Promotions, you will lead a team of three, and be responsible for building a long-term global customer acquisition strategy (Udemy is a global learning marketplace with 30 million students across 190 countries, learning in 50 different languages). Primary responsibilities include identifying and targeting customer segments and new monetization opportunities, developing and executing end-to-end marketing plans, partnering with the leads from CRM, Brand, and Channel Marketing teams.
 
ABOUT YOU:
We’re on the search for an experienced and strategic marketer. You have strong individual drive, ability to build a strategy from scratch, and experience managing teams. You’ll act as strategist, executer, and coach. We’re looking for someone who will develop a deep understanding of the Udemy value proposition, research and identify target customers in global markets, and develop go-to-market strategies to reach them. Most importantly, when you are faced with ambiguity, your instinct is to use it as an opportunity to build on.
 
You are a cross-functional leader and will work seamlessly with Data Science, UXR and external vendors to conduct and own lifecycle and market research to support your work, with product and engineering to build systems to support marketing strategies. You are also comfortable with frequently presenting and sharing your vision with the company in general and with top leadership.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

    • Gaining a deep understanding of Udemy’s value proposition and the global competitive landscape
    • Leading new student acquisition strategy; research, identify, size, and prioritize target customers in global markets; define actionable customer segments, and understand how and where to target new customers
    • Developing go-to market strategies for student acquisition. Collaborate with brand, pricing, and marketing channel partners to execute upon plan
    • Investigating future revenue streams and monetization modes, using internal and external research
    • Building the end to end business cases and strategies to target them, and execution plans to develop, launch and grow them
    • Working cross functionally to define investment levels, costs, resources, timing, risks
    • Partnering with product to understand desirability, feasibility, and viability of new product efforts in accordance with the company’s short-term and long-term strategic goals
    • Staying current on the user acquisition landscape, growth trends, best practices, and competitor strategies to develop new ideas and initiatives for growth
    • Translating audience segmentation, brand tracking and user behavior data into actionable strategies for the broader Brand Marketing team including localized marketing teams
    • Assessing marketing opportunities to create a virtuous strategic feedback loop between the B2C Marketplace and UFB (Udemy for Business)  and identify potential opportunities to collaborate

We’re excited about you because you have:

    • 6+ years experience in a combination of marketing strategy and/or management consulting 
    • Demonstrated expertise in defining strategic and actionable customer segmentations across attitudinal, behavioral, and socio-demographic attributes.
    • Extensive experience in creating and executing Integrated & global marketing campaigns that span across digital and traditional channels. 
    • Demonstrated skill at leading a cross functional work-groups as well as managing and building out teams to scale.
    • Demonstrated skill at quantitative and qualitative market research techniques.
    • Ability to present highly complex business cases rigorously, clearly, and persuasively.
    • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills as required
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize clearly and manage finite resources
    • Relentlessly rigorous in using data to drive decisions
    • Strong business/financial acumen
    • Must be able to collaborate with executives, creative teams, channel leaders, research and development, and product development teams
    • MBA preferred
    • Experience with balancing B2C and B2B priorities preferred, with an emphasis on B2C
    • Experience with two sided marketplaces would be amazing.
    • People-management experience
