About the role:
As an Inventory Manager, your primary responsibility is the accurate and timely organization of the fulfillment centers inventory.  In short, if we don’t have the inventory available, we are going to disappoint the most important people at Grove, our customers. Specific duties include ensuring accurate receipt of all new products arriving at the fulfillment center, tracking of vendor delivery issues, planning and ensuring the execution of product replenishment based on Groves replenishment prediction model, providing feedback on the replenishment prediction model, planning and ensuring the execution of newly received product into bulk storage (put away), planning and monitoring SKU slotting assignments, cycle count planning, running the annual physical inventory process and representing the fulfillment center in weekly inventory planning process.  Additionally, you will be responsible for helping our Finance and Merchant business partners with requests and projects.
 
This is a planning and analytic job, you will not be managing hourly fulfillment center associates.  Instead, you will be developing the strategies and creating the plans for the inbounding teams on swing and weekend shifts to execute against.  You will also be required to keep track of performance of your plans and provide feedback on how they executed.

Your Responsibilities

    • Reliable counts of inventory (including packaging) from product pickup at the vendor through delivery to outbound carrier.  Ensure we have correct inventory counts and states system wide.
    • Responsible for communication about inventory to primary stakeholders - Operations Strategy Transportation, Merchants, Finance and Fulfillment.
    • Ensuring warehouse manages put away and replenish as scheduled.
    • Daily cycle counts and bi-yearly physical inventories at warehouses.
    • Reconciliation of inventory with Finance.
    • Managing inter-warehouse transfers.
    • Ensuring warehouses understand and execute against priority receiving / put away.
    • Project managing value added services for Merchant team like product kitting, chargeback program and rolling out new receiving processes.
    • Weekly inventory meeting with Finance and Merchants – goal is to receive feedback on inventory accuracy and projects and give feedback on receiving issues.
    • Help coordinate any outbound shipment volume shifting to ensure visibility to system wide and local inventory issues.
    • Communicate goals in a timely manner to ensure the fulfillment center employees understand what’s important and how to do it – “the Whats’, the Whys’ and the Hows’.”

About You

    • An associates or bachelor’s degree in, operations or related field or equivalent experience.
    • A minimum of 4 years of inventory management related experience.
    • At least 2 years of experience as an operations manager or similar role in large fulfillment center.  
    • You are an active and visible leader that spends a lot of time on the floor, so you have first-hand knowledge of how things work.
    • You are motivated by helping others to succeed.  Being a couch, even for associates who don’t report to you is second nature and you are gratified by helping people reach their full potential. 
    • You inspire and motivate the workforce in the good times and the bad times.  The workforce trusts you to be honest.
    • You enjoy seeking out great behaviors to showcase them and publicly acknowledge people for them.
    • Superior communications skills.  Ability to break down complex strategies into easy to understand concepts.  In short, you enjoy talking with people and are thoughtful about how you do it.
    • You are metrics driven and can get insights from data.  You are an expert in taking these insights and identifying who needs help and who we should be using as an example of how to improve.
    • You're extremely customer and employee-centric and are comfortable managing through ambiguity as well as conflict in order to balance short-term needs against the bigger picture and vision of where we're headed.
    • Demonstrable experience in recruiting workforce.
    • Strong attention to detail; excellent follow-up routines (you're very organized!)
    • Previous experience in a highly mechanized/automated e-commerce operation a big plus.
