Manager, Strategic Initiatives, Accounting at Uber

About the Role

This role will be part of the Strategic Initiatives, Accounting team. The Strategic Initiatives team works with partners across the business including Finance, Tax, Capital Markets, Corporate Development, Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting and Legal to help execute capital markets transactions, acquisitions and divestitures, financing activities, strategic partnerships and monthly and quarterly reporting (internal and external) at a fast pace and continuously evolving business. You'll play a key role in all aspects of accounting and finance implications on strategic transactions. This role reports to Uber's Head of Strategic Initiatives, Accounting.

What You'll Do

  • Be involved throughout the transaction lifecycle to identify potential accounting implications of equity, debt, M&A and other strategic transactions.

  • Benchmark and research peer companies and summarize and present relevant information to key stakeholders including executives.

  • Act as a subject matter expert, working with the business and others in the accounting organization to identify, resolve and document complex accounting issues and transactions.

  • Partner and coordinate cross-functionally to understand business transactions and effectively communicate accounting issues with various departments throughout the company.

  • Engage in ad-hoc financial analysis, including special projects at the request of Finance/Accounting Leadership.

  • Work cross-functionally with Strategic Finance, Accounting, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, and Legal to provide financial insights and assess the company's overall progress towards its strategic objectives.

  • Identify, accounting and reporting issues of target companies and create post-acquisition action steps to help mitigate these issues. To the extent applicable, be responsible for overseeing financial due diligence teams that may be engaged as part of the potential transaction.

  • Assist in the development of processes, policies and procedures required of a public company

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting or related discipline

  • 7+ years working experience in accounting/advisory role

  • Strong background in technical accounting matters

  • 5+ years of experience in a Big 4 firm serving public clients highly desired. Relevant experience includes: Financial statement audit with exposure to transactions (IPOs, debt offerings, acquisitions, divestitures), Capital markets accounting advisory, Financial accounting advisory with exposure to transactions and/or capital markets, Transactions advisory with experience with technical accounting

  • Exposure to technology industry desired but not required

  • Strong project management and presentation skills

  • Ability to take complex or technical information and clearly summarize for deal team and executive consumption
