World View is looking for a strong mechanical engineering candidate to join the Product Engineering team responsible for designing and implementing cost-effective hardware applicable for World Views stratospheric balloon systems.  The applicant should be ready to learn and grow, and have a strong interest in aviation, space, and/or unpowered flight. This position will include everything from solving complex original problems, to designing next generation ballooning systems, to logistics and testing the parachute systems R&D area. We are specifically looking for the following qualifications:

Qualifications

 Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, as demonstrated by coursework or previous experience
  • SolidWorks/Pro Engineer
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic team environment and meet commitments
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Strong communication skills

Requirements:

  • Perform design, analysis, and hands-on testing of both flight hardware and supporting test fixtures
  • Create machine drawings, work instructions for assembly builds, and design & development books for flight assemblies
  • Develop and implement test plans and procedures required to qualify hardware to mission environments and constraints

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of a B.S. Mechanical Engineering or in a related engineering field, or equivalent
  • 1-2 years combined work and internship experience

Candidates must be US Citizens or US permanent residents
