Material Planner / Production Control Specialist

World View is looking for an experienced Material Planner / Production Control Specialist to join our team! You will be responsible for Materials Planning, Production Control, Production Scheduling of manufacturing resources and hardware, both internally and externally in support of delivering to the World View manifest and development programs.



Summary of Essential Job Functions

Establishes and maintains build plans for production programs.

Coordinate and execute scheduling activities for assigned parts using ERP systems.

Responsible for ensuring the health and accuracy of requirements data in MRP.

Responsible for defining the acquisition requirements for material to meet set schedules, and racking/managing status to need.

Analyze data and collaborate with internal customers to determine and apply appropriate ordering, inventory, and replenishment policies.

Identify and coordinate advance notice, input and resolution of material shortages/overages.

Manage and eliminate root cause of shortages

Responsible for the on-time start and completions of internal builds.

Manages departmental metrics related to responsible hardware

Develop BOEs for new and ongoing proposals.

Responsible for managing direct material budgets for responsible hardware

Interface with stakeholders to identify and coordinate the disposition of obsolete, non-conforming, and excess materials.

Material cost reduction initiatives.

Manage material acquisition to meet program milestones as required.

Champion and drive process improvements across all areas of responsibility.

Analyze data to determine opportunities to decrease inventory, improve customer service levels, and reduce total costs in order to support lean manufacturing activities.

Assist the Purchasing Manager during customer contract development to ensure new supply agreements are

implemented and executed effectively, efficiently and in accordance with WV policies and procedures.

Procure materials in accordance with MRP and budgetary plans.


Qualifications and Requirements


ERP/MRP experience in a manufacturing environment

Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office and ability to learn new software/programs as opportunities or department needs arise.

Strong Understanding of Manufacturing Workflow Systems.

Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings to effectively communicate the designs or

discrepancies from shipments to supplier should questions arise.

Knowledge of materials management theories, processes and practices.

Highly effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with team, internal customers and suppliers that includes a strong focus on teamwork and internal/external customer satisfaction.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.



Ability Requirements 


Experience in make/buy decisions and procurement activities

Knowledgeable and experience using supply chain data and metrics to improve processes

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and other MRP/ERP tools applied in a manufacturing environment.

Understanding of electronics manufacturing and current manufacturing workflow tools and software.

Lean/Six Sigma experience is preferred.
