Manufacturing Engineer

You will be responsible for designing and implementing a manufacturing system consisting of electrical, mechanical and soft good fabrication, assembly, system integration, validation and refurbishment activities. This position requires someone who is dynamic, driven, organized and detail oriented; excels in project management; communicates with ease at all levels; thrives in ambiguous environments and is adept at facilitating actions and resolving conflicts. 

  • Own detail and assembly level stratollite hardware through the manufacturing process

  • Responsible for developing and qualifying new processes to take products from design to production

  • Support day-to-day production of responsible stratollite hardware and systems through validation

  • Resolve manufacturing discrepancies for all owned processes by collaborating with the design engineering, production and quality teams

  • Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production demand

  • Find and eliminate process waste, streamline production processes and enable continuous improvement

  • Work with design engineering on DFX to improve re-designs or new products for manufacturing

  • Update drawings for manufacturability where appropriate

  • Develop and maintain manufacture and test planning for processes, products and integration

  • Create and or improve Preventative Maintenance plans for tools, tooling, shop aids, equipment and facilities

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, electrical or mechanical engineering

  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or test engineering experience with responsibilities including resource management, schedule management, budget responsibility, and multidisciplinary team involvement.


  • A Proficiency in electrical and mechanical assembly
  • Experience in make/buy decisions and procurement activities
  • Experience in hardware verification testing methodology and execution.
  • Experience creating technical specifications and process documentation
  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production
  • Experience with design for manufacturability
  • Knowledgeable about production quality metrics
  • Experience in production tooling design and implementation.
  • Proficient in Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Experience in SketchUp.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience is preferred.
