Description

About Opendoor
Are you intrigued by the thought of disrupting a trillion dollar industry through technology? At Opendoor, we are on a bold mission to empower everyone with the freedom to move by making buying, selling and trading-in a home stress-free and instant. In five years since we started, we have hired an exceptional team, seen strong growth, bought and sold over 20,000 homes (with an annual purchase run rate exceeding $3.8 billion), and raised $1.3 billion in funding. The coming years present a tremendous opportunity for innovation as we explore new frontiers and scale nationwide.

The Institutional Upshot
The Opendoor Direct Access (ODA) division is our interface with institutional real estate buyers (REITs, private equity real estate funds, family offices, etc.). The ODA team has innovated past the core consumer product offering to create a diversity of new touchpoints and product capabilities uniquely for our institutional partners, which has in turn unlocked the most substantial ancillary source of revenue for the company. In an industry we’re already disrupting, the Direct Access product line set us even further ahead of our competitors, having been compared by one institutional client to“the difference between analog and digital.” The potential upside is multiplicative – as we become the go-to home vendor for national institutions, we can bridge the divide between firms and individuals and enable instant liquidity for both.

The Responsibilities

    • Envision and execute an industry-dominant marketplace for institutions to meet and transact completely off of Opendoor’s balance sheet
    • Create a platform for bulk home acquisitions, bulk resales, complex negotiation across multiple home transactions with a single counterparty, and tooling to support all parties to the transaction
    • Set the protocol and models for inter-institution transactions, which will position Opendoor as the first centralized home marketplace for institutions
    • Publish an API to automate the acquisition and resale of homes
    • Work with gRPC, React, Flask, Rails, Go, Postgres, REST, GraphQL
    • Touch home seller user experience, institutional buyer GUIs/APIs, and internal operator tools, and switch between each frequently
    • Bring the historically offline real estate industry into the 21st century, where our first-mover advantage and incumbency will cement us as the one-stop-shop for REITs and other institutions to transact
