About the Role
As the Senior Category Manager (Furniture), you will report to the Director of Merchandising, and be an integral part of the Merchandising team. You will aid in delivering against Modsy’s merchandising strategy and partner across the organization to bring it to life while delivering against financial targets. You will be responsible for building out new capabilities and approaches to establish Modsy as a best in class one stop shop design service and marketplace.
The ideal candidate will have a background in merchandising, buying and/or category management, with a deep knowledge of the furniture category and ecommerce and/or innovative retail experience. Passionate about product and leveraging technology and data to drive a better client experience, this quick learner and strategic thinker with a strong analytical background must align with Modsy’s core values.

You’ll be excited about this role because you will:

    • Be responsible for setting and delivering against financial targets for Modsy’s furniture business
    • Partner with the Sourcing/Product Development team to curate and scale Modsy’s furniture assortment to meet financial and customer needs
    • Identify sales trends and opportunities and work across the organization to drive progress quickly
    • Achieve or exceed financial targets by optimizing the furniture assortment offering, pricing, and shopping experience
    • Ensure Modsy’s furniture assortment offers customers (via designers) a compelling assortment of products across a wide range of styles, brands, and budgets to meet their needs
    • Ensure price competitiveness/adherence
    • Analyze and optimize merchandise placement and sell thru in partnership with Design Services, Product, and Engineering
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative teams on category messaging
    • Train and collaborate cross-functionally to drive product knowledge, design product placement, product discovery, and website product relevance strategies
    • Ensure customer facing product information is accurate, relevant, and ultimately drives sales

We’ll be excited about you because your experience and qualifications include:

    • A Bachelor’s degree; MBA is a plus
    • 5+ years of experience in a merchandising, buying, or category management capacity working for an innovative retailer or ecommerce company
    • Experience in the furniture category and knowledge of current industry trends
    • Strong strategic and analytical abilities including strong retail math and Excel skills
    • Comfort pulling, analyzing, and manipulating data to support business insights
    • A track record of driving business insights, actions, and accountability
    • A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic work environment with minimal direction or supervision
    • A proven ability to develop strong working relationships with cross functional partners
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and problem solving skills
