Description

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer (IPT) will be responsible for designing and implementing a manufacturing system consisting of electrical, mechanical and soft good fabrication, assembly, system integration, validation and refurbishment activities. This position requires someone who is dynamic, driven, organized and detail oriented; excels in project management; communicates with ease at all levels; thrives in ambiguous environments and is adept at facilitating actions and resolving conflicts. As a member of the Integrated Product Team you will be a key voice for manufacturing and supply chain in developing the next generation platforms.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for developing and qualifying new processes to take products from design to production
  • Support the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
  • Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production demand
  • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing and test planning for processes, products and integration
  • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Provide leadership and/or direction to less experienced team members
  • Participate in modeling and simulation of manufacturing and operations processes
  • Independently determine proposed approach to solutions
  • Contributes to the completion of major programs and projects
  • Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Find and eliminate process waste, streamline production processes and enable continuous improvement
  • Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses.
  • Regular contact with senior levels of internal work groups
  • Works under limited direction
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, electrical or mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or test engineering experience with responsibilities including resource management, schedule management, budget responsibility, supplier selection, and multidisciplinary team involvement.
  • A Proficiency in electrical and mechanical assembly
  • Experience in make/buy decisions and procurement activities
  • Experience in hardware verification testing methodology and execution
  • Experience creating technical specifications and process documentation
  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production
  • Experience with design for manufacturability
  • Knowledgeable about production quality metrics
  • Experience in production tooling design and implementation
  • Proficient in Solidworks or similar CAD software
