Senior Researcher

San Francisco, CA, US

Do you geek out at the intersection of statistics and storytelling? Do you love data and design in equal measure? Are you intrigued by the thought of disrupting a trillion dollar industry through technology? Let’s talk.
Opendoor is looking for an experienced mixed-methods researcher to join our Research and Insights team in our San Francisco, CA headquarters.

You will

      • As the first researcher embedded in our Adjacent Services team focused on mortgages, home personalization, and more, you will help the team integrate research into our process to help us move faster and smarter.
      • Work alongside business unit leaders to inform strategy based on research that provides  deep understanding and customer empathy for home buyers, sellers, and owners so we can build the future of real estate.
      • Identify ways for us to improve the Opendoor experience across all of our customer touch-points for Adjacent Services, including digital tools, physical homes, and customer service interactions.
      • Collaborate with teammates across the organization to uncover information gaps and articulate research questions.
      • Design and execute research plans to address questions critical to business direction and customer experience -- maybe you’ll use surveys, concept testing, interviews, usability testing, or a new technique that you dream up. Your research will directly inform strategy and decision making.
      • Analyze and synthesize research findings into actionable insights that inspire and empower teams across the company to make better decisions.
      • Adapt and innovate research practices to meet team needs under the tight timeframes of a rapidly growing company.
      • Evangelize for high-quality research and user-centered thinking throughout the company.

You have

    • 6+ years of research experience with expertise in a wide range of both qualitative and quantitative methods
    • A track record of discovering, synthesizing, and socializing actionable insights
    • A strong grasp on how to clearly, concisely, and persuasively communicate research findings
    • A self-driven attitude and the initiative to identify research needs and creatively solve problems

You are

    • A proven researcher with a point of view about how to approach getting to the core of our customers needs and motivations
    • Excited to understand our customers and what products resonate with their needs, and how to help your team incorporate aspects of this thinking in their work
    • You’re insanely curious about the differences between markets and how Opendoor can succeed in each
    • A strong and structured communicator, both verbally and in writing
    • Willing to roll up your sleeves and do “whatever it takes”
