The Director of Retention Automation will own and evolve the marketing operations and automation that power retention marketing at Grove. You will own responsibility for the tools, systems, and automation strategies that enable effective marketing to our existing customers. This work will include owning and integrating platforms, tools and processes to build the best Grove experience possible. You will partner with our centralized Product Management & Engineering function to bring to life new product features via our messaging channels, site and app. You will work closely with cross-functional counterparts to manage and improve existing structures and to build new automation capacities at Grove in alignment with our strategic objectives.

Your Opportunity

    • Own and significantly improve customer marketing systems, platforms & tools.
    • Develop roadmap for retention marketing automation stack.
    • Spearhead and evolve our API and marketing data ecosystem across channels: email, app, SMS, paid remarketing & direct mail
    • Make build or buy decisions for key technology investments.
    • Partner with the Lifecycle Marketing, Product Management and Analytics team to create robust test & learn agendas. 
    • Empower customer segmentation and cross-channel customer journey strategies. Evolve Grove’s ability to offer differentiated experiences to different customer types across the customer lifecycle.
    • Drive advancement and evolution of content personalization strategies across channels to increase customer engagement.
    • Effectively manage and develop a team.
    • Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, analytics and strategy teams to support the marketing function in a high-growth business environment as we gain marketing channels and business verticals.

About You:

    • You have 7+ years experience in marketing operations and/or automation
    • You have 4+ years experience in ESP management, and you have integrated at least two different ESPs
    • You have multi-channel automation experience: email, site, app and digital remarketing combination is a plus
    • You have a proven track record of driving business results in a $500M+/yr business that is growing >50% YoY
    • You are analytical, data-driven and fluent in complex data analysis. Further, you are comfortable working with Data Scientists to build and test models that can drive customer segmentation and personalization.
    • You have experience managing customer PII data across marketing channels: email, app, retargeting and direct mail. 
    • Well-versed in API integrations across marketing channels/platforms and comfortable leading data integrations from conception through business team adoption. 
    • You are comfortable owning a technology budget and being accountable for RFPs, integrations, deployments, and ROI measurement. 
    • You’re skilled at building efficient, elegant cross-platform systems that support powerful customer experiences. You have a bias towards simple, robust solutions over sophisticated, fragile systems.
    • You have experience working in a high-growth environment, and have built sophistication while scaling 100%+ YoY, multiple years in a row, ideally e-commerce or subscription business.
    • You have a proven track record at working effectively with product and engineering teams to launch new features that impact multiple channels simultaneously.
    • Large-scale ecommerce or subscription business model experience a plus.
