Internship Dates (must be available): Mid December 2019 through End of May 2020 (preferred 30-40 hrs/week)
The Clinical Analytics Research Associate Intern for the Life Sciences business will support the Director of Clinical Analytics to identify, analyze, and extract metrics on health data across Health Catalyst client data, assisting where possible with compiling knowledge for presentation to management, potential clients, and partners.
The incumbent will have aptitude to adapt quickly to new clinical domains, researching nuances that may be relevant to diseases and therapeutic areas of interest, and using lessons learned to ask the right questions of the data, identify gaps that might exist, and communicate findings both orally and via e-mail and presentations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Explore disparate data sources across multiple healthcare provider’s data to identify new sources of information. Perform research on clinical domains of relevance as projects dictate, applying lessons learned into data analysis efforts to ensure extraction of appropriate data. Document and communicate findings, including summary statistics, missingness in data sources, proposed approaches to compensate for any data deficiencies, etc. Support the Clinical Analytics Director and Data Engineer with other tasks as required.
Strong data analysis skills via either SQL, Python, R, etc.
Develop greater understanding of clinical data via exposure to EHRs, registries, public data sets, or related
Deep exposure to at least one disease or therapeutic area preferred, or broad exposure to many clinical domains
Ability to craft clear documentation that tells the story behind the data being described via PowerPoint and other means
Education & Relevant Experience
BS/BA Biology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or related field. Master’s/MPH coursework a plus.
