Senior Insurance Manager

We’re looking for an experienced, versatile senior insurance manager to support Opendoor’s corporate and property insurance for our inventory of homes and all our business lines.  In this role, you’ll lead the structuring, negotiating, purchasing and managing all aspects of our insurance program, including corporate, cyber, and property insurance programs. You will partner with business and operational teams at Opendoor to create scalable policies and procedures for managing insurance claims for Opendoor.  You will work with the legal and business teams to identify areas of risk requiring insurance or provide advice to mitigate risk. You will review and approve insurance/indemnity provisions in contracts for all business units. We look for nimble go-getters with the ability to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders and calibrate insurance advice in a rapidly changing environment.  Collegiality and a good sense of humor is key.


    • 5-10 years of risk management experience
    • In depth knowledge of the insurance industry
    • Ability to work across functions, business lines, and locations in a fast growing company
    • Proactive and always looking to improve processes
    • Ability to effectively identify issues, research and analyze complex matters, assess potential exposure and propose alternative courses of action
    • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to sequence concepts logically
    • Ability to exercise creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to address issues and resolve problems
    • Ability to keep specialty field of knowledge current and learn and gain experience in new areas of specialization as our needs evolve over time
