Payroll Specialist

We’re seeking an exceptional Payroll Specialist to join our Opendoor Payroll team to support the needs of our employees as our business rapidly grows in existing markets and scales to new markets. 

Job Duties:

    • Prepare semi-monthly payroll while maintaining accurate employee Payroll, HR and time records
    • Assists team and Manager with accurate and timely processing of payroll.
    • Prepares and processes Workers Compensation data to be loaded to the Vendor website.
    • Prepares and loads transit and parking deductions pulled from our Vendor website.
    • Verifies timekeeping information for all employees.
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
    • Respond to and resolve any tax compliance notices. 
    • New State tax set up, withholding and SUI accounts
    • Answers frequently asked questions from employees; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level Payroll/HR staff.
    • Assists with processing of wage garnishments.  Entry to employee record and uploaded to our Garnishment service provider website.
    • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation for hourly Managers and employees to ensure they know how to record and approve time entries.
    • Researches and resolves payroll discrepancies.
    • Prepares and submits payroll reports as needed.  This could include writing/creating new reports in the Workday system.
    • Maintains the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of Payroll/HR files, records, and documentation.
    • Provides excellent customer service to our employees.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

We’re looking for teammates who bring:

    • 2+ years of relevant payroll experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • Open to change and willing to learn new skills
    • Ability to multi-task and work in multiple systems
    • Workday HCM, Workday Payroll system knowledge preferred
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Suite(google sheets, forms and docs) preferred
