About the Role

As the Email Marketing Manager for LendingClub, you will be responsible for supporting and executing Marketing strategies for multiple business units within LendingClub, while working in close collaboration with Marketing, Analytics, and Program Management. You will be responsible for optimizing email performance and customer engagement through a test and learn approach, driving email and targeting best practices throughout the organization, and continuously improving our processes and capabilities. You will manage the complete email lifecycle.

What You'll Do

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Analytics partners to design, implement, test and optimize the acquisition and cross-sell email journeys
  • Use your HTML skills to build emails according to email best practices
  • Use your SQL skills to target email segments against business requirements
  • Build, QA, launch, and automate email programs in ExactTarget
  • Ensure all emails meet requirements for testing, tracking, branding, legal & compliance
  • Provide thoughtful feedback on email creative assets, including template designs, copy, and subject lines
  • Analyze and report out on the effectiveness of email programs and campaigns against goals and KPIs
  • Recommend actions to improve engagement and response to email programs
  • Be the email expert for the internal businesses you support, consulting on best practices, enforcing legal and compliance policies, and using your expertise to continuously improve results
  • Leverage technology and partners to build more sophisticated and measurable email campaigns
  • Help create and implement processes to improve quality and efficiency

About You

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Self-starter, problem solver, team player
  • 2+ years in an email or web campaign management function
  • HTML development skills, with an understanding of responsive design principles and nuances of designing for email versus web
  • Basic working knowledge of SQL
  • Familiarity with a major email service provider (such as ExactTarget, Responsys, Yesmail)
  • Understanding of email conversion metrics
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superb attention to detail, with a keen eye for typos and grammatical errors
  • Demonstrated success working in diverse teams in fast-paced environments
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience

It’s a big plus if you have any of the following experience:

  • Professional experience developing HTML that renders as designed across multiple web browsers, devices, and email clients
  • Prior use of Litmus, Email On Acid, or similar email QA tools
  • Experience with ExactTarget, including use of their API to deliver emails in real-time
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts and ability to craft SQL queries from scratch, including joins across multiple tables
  • Advanced Excel skills, including setup and use of pivot tables to quickly isolate target segments or deep-dive into response metrics
