We are looking for a team member to provide analytical support for Sojern’s variable compensation program. The Commissions Analyst will help develop and execute strategies for variable compensation plans through data extraction, analysis, and actionable commentary.

The analyst will support the design, implementation, evaluation, and administration of variable compensation plans that effectively measure and reward behaviors that lead to results. This position is located in Omaha and reports to the Commission Manager.


The team:

This role will be a member of the high-functioning Finance team. We are dedicated to providing an exceptional user-experience for our business partners. This role will have the ability to interact with other teams at all levels in the organization, allowing the opportunity to add significant value to all Sojern employees. 



  • Provide reporting and analysis for sales compensation execution, as well as other sales compensation projects.

  • Maintain existing reports and proactively drive ad hoc reporting aimed at process optimization/automation, plan evaluation, or evidence based plan design changes.

  • Independently identify appropriate reporting and analysis in support of sales compensation execution.   

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of accurate sales quotas.

  • Assist in calculating monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual commission payouts. This includes ensuring the calculations are accurate and in accordance with the plan.

  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies or exceptions and effectively communicate outcomes to sales leaders.

  • Assist with the monthly variable pay accrual process and provide data to accounting, finance, and payroll as needed.

  • Innovate on tools, processes and procedures related to variable pay administration, including but not limited to leveraging SalesForce, BigQuery, and Tableau to support and strengthen the sales compensation program.

  • Become familiar with Sojern’s sales cycle and business initiatives to understand the effect on commission plan reporting.

  • Assist in the effort to provide guidance/training with groups outside of the finance team, including sales and account management to ensure effective communication, understanding, and buy-in.


What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related area

  • 3+ years experience in an analytical role with demonstrated analytical skills and experience with providing insights from data.

  • Advanced understanding of databases. SQL and Tableau required with the ability to write advance queries

  • Attention to details in a complex process

  • Critical and creative thinking, being comfortable working with and through ambiguity 

  • Outstanding MS Excel skills including complex formulas, pivot tables, data filters/sorts, etc.

  • An extremely high sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

  • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and problem-solving

  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities and to constantly re-prioritize

  • An outstanding focus on achieving a high level of customer service

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
