About Uber

We’re changing the way people think about transportation. Not that long ago we were just an app to request premium black cars in a few metropolitan areas. Now we’re a part of the logistical fabric of more than 600 cities around the world. Whether it’s a ride, a sandwich, or a package, we use technology to give people what they want, when they want it.

For the people who drive with Uber, our app represents a flexible new way to earn money. For cities, we help strengthen local economies, improve access to transportation, and make streets safer.

And that’s just what we’re doing today. We’re thinking about the future, too. With teams working on autonomous trucking and self-driving cars, we’re in for the long haul. We’re reimagining how people and things move from one place to the next.

About the Role

We are looking to add a strong individual to directly handle, advise and coach on complex ER matters and investigations. You'll work with the broader HR team to develop and drive initiatives - employment practice improvement, training, metrics/trending and HR analytics. Additionally, you'll provide strategy, technical expertise and direction to HR partners and managers around management practices, ER and org effectiveness.

The right person will thrive in an "all hands on deck" environment, loves solving people and employment related issues, and can pivot quickly. This role is all about supporting the Employee Relations practices and people strategy across Uber, and providing subject matter expertise in addressing employee relations situations.

What You’ll Do

  • Independently handle a caseload of complex ER matters

  • Design and conduct HR investigations: interview complainants, subjects, and witnesses; analyze relevant data; summarize findings and conclusions

  • Advise and influence our HR Partners and Business Leaders around complex employee relations decisions, e.g.: performance management, business conduct, terminations, restructuring, and HR policies, guidelines and practices

  • Design and conduct organizational assessments; develop and implement appropriate remediations

  • Analyze ER data, identifying trends and developing proactive interventions

  • Develop and deliver training for HR and management on ER practices

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of HR or Legal experience

  • Experience managing complex employee relations issues or advising corporate clients around employment practices

  • Knowledge and experience in technology businesses including a familiarity with global HR practices and policies

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and tenacity to build solutions from scratch

  • Flexibility to be proactive in a fast paced, ever changing environment
