About the Role

 

With a growing focus on Daily Operations, you will provide strategic vision and drive Uber’s Global Real Estate and Facilities strategy. You will lead a team managing a diverse Real Estate portfolio managing Site Selection, Construction, and Daily Operations of >700 different sites in >70 different countries, totaling >6 million square feet, the largest component being the San Francisco Bay Headquarters footprint of >800K ft2. Your team is also responsible for building and managing Uber’s future >1M ft2 San Francisco campus, opening in 2020.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of >125 FTE’s, located in >50 cities, that:

 

    • Performs the the Real Estate Search, Transaction Negotiations, and Buildout of all Uber sites
    • Develops and manages all assigned Workplace related budgets and runs the day to day operations for all sites and
    • Develops, negotiates, and monitors vendor contracts and manages all outsourced Service Providers including Food Service, Project Management and Facility Management
    • Reviews various facilities management reports, processes and procedures and strives to create efficiencies and a great employee experience
    • Ensures regulatory compliance and health and safety programs at our sites.
    • Develops, negotiates, and monitors vendor contracts, including service agreements
    • Plans, budgets, and schedules ongoing facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs
    • Sets standards for all Facilities related technologies including MEP, IWMS, IBMS, and Project Management tools
    • Partners with our Physical Security, IT, and AV teams to ensure an integrated approach to workplace design and employee's interaction with technology

 

  • Provide Strategic oversight, review, and sign-off at regular intervals for the 2020 >1M ft2 Uber Global Headquarters located in Mission Bay. While your team is the ones actually running the project, you are responsible for its overall success

 

  • Lead the cross functional Business, Finance, HR and Workplace team that develops the 5-7 year Workplace vision and help Uber develop its long term location strategy and business plan

 

  • Member of the core team working on how the Workplace Employee Value Proposition relates to and supports Uber’s Cultural Norms, Uber’s Business Plans and Uber’s overall Employee Value Proposition

 

  • Develop organizational policies relevant to the Real Estate, Facilities Operations, and Corporate Services teams

 

  • Develop and ensure proper management of the overall global Workplace budget

 

  • Manage the negotiation of all major global vendor contracts and any Headquarter lease or purchase transactions

 

  • Ensure a path where our Workplace team works well together, with a balanced approach for what's best for our Business Plan, our Team, and each person’s career plans

 

What You’ll Need

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a Facilities or Real Estate related field.
  • 10+ years experience leading a global workplace organization involving complex operational and strategic initiatives and working closely with multiple global stakeholders at all levels to achieve impact.
  • Expertise facilitating alignment across diverse stakeholders, enabling and accelerating change across a global and complex company. Outstanding communication skills that capture Uber’s cultural norms. Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.
  • Experience activating projects and programs in a diverse global landscape. Exceptional at leading an organization through change, with a proven track record of delivering impact.
  • Ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels. Experience leading global project teams and initiatives with multi-country stakeholders.
  • Track record of effectively managing and delivering against multiple global initiatives simultaneously in very fast-moving environment. Distinctive problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment.
